TAKE
NOTICE that effective from 1ST DAY OF JANUARY,
2008, the National Secretariat of the NBA will no longer
deal with its members on individual basis. All legal
Practitioners who are yet to sign up with their branches
should ensure they do so immediately as issues and matters
of communication and coordination of Bar activities would
now be handled through the branches.
In
this regard, the NBA Branch offices will now be responsible
for the following:

Collection of copies of
certificates of Call of all lawyers in the country for
creation of the NBA Membership Database;

Collection of deposit
slips for payments of practicing licenses and
distribution of the licenses when they are ready;

Collection of Stamp and
seal documentation as well as distribution of same when
available;

Circulation of NBA
materials, information etc
-
Coordination and Execution
of various programmes of the NBA
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that Legal
Practitioners (in private, public or corporate practice) are
required to pay practicing fees not later than 31st MARCH IN
EVERY YEAR.
THAT
failure to pay the prescribed practicing fees by 31st March
2007 is professional misconduct. Default will deny right of
audience in all courts, and authority to prepare legal
documents. |
